A Christian Ethos

A Christian Ethos
Bramford is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school. This means that we have strong links with both our local church, St Mary's, and with the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.  We are inspected every 3 - 5 years by the Diocese. At our most recent inspection we were judged as 'good'.

You can read our inspection report here.

The vicar from St Mary’s visits Bramford School every 2 weeks and leads collective worship for all of the children. We also plan a range of joint events from the Christian calendar such as harvest or Pentecost, which we hold either in the school or in the church itself.

Whilst Somersham is not a church school, it too holds strong links with both St Mary's Church and the Baptist Chapel in the village.  Representatives from both churches visit the school weekly to hold ‘Open the Book' assemblies. To find out more about Somersham Baptist Church Suffolk click here.

As part of Bramford School’s church status, our federation Governing Body has governors who have been appointed by the Diocese. These are known as Foundation governors. In addition, Revered Jenny Seggar is our Vice Chair of Governors.

The Values for Life - teaching Christian values in our schools

Values for Life is a resource to support primary schools in the teaching of Christian values. Eighteen values have been selected, many of which are also reflected in our ACE ‘Particles.' They are:

Each half term we  focus on a different value. This half term’s value is:

Collective Worship

At both of our schools we enjoy a daily assembly. We focus on the same value each half term and displays in both schools reflect the Christian Values for Life. Our assemblies include song, music, stories, reflection and prayer along with a chance to celebrate and share our achievements and values. Every Friday at both schools, parents and carers are invited to join us for our ‘sharing assembly,’ where we celebrate all of the ACE learning that has been happening in school and award our weekly ‘Ace of the Week’

Both schools also have separate Open the Book teams.
