What is Quality first teaching?
Quality first teaching can be described as having the following characteristics:

·         highly focused lesson design with sharp objectives

·         high demands of pupil involvement and engagement with their learning

·         high levels of interaction for all pupils

·         appropriate use of teacher questioning, modelling and explaining

·         an emphasis on learning through dialogue, with regular opportunities for pupils to talk both individually and in groups

·         an expectation that pupils will accept responsibility for their own learning and work independently

·         regular use of encouragement and authentic praise to engage and motivate pupils.

At Bramford /Somersham we aim to be inclusive within the classroom environment. We strive to ensure that our teaching meets the highest standards for all pupils and that work is appropriately differentiated to allow access and challenge for all.

The classroom teachers are responsible for the daily education of your child and are supported and advised by the SENCO where necessary.

Sometimes it may be appropriate to teach your child out of the classroom individually or as part of a small group for a specific intervention designed to accelerate the child’s learning.
