Bramford and Somersham

Primary School Federation

Public Sector Equality Duty

What is the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED)?

The PSED was introduced by the Equality Act 2010 and applies to all schools, including maintained and independent schools, academies, maintained nursery schools, and maintained and non-maintained special schools.

Our schools aim to meet our obligations under the PSED by:

  • Eliminating discrimination and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
  • Advancing equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
  • Fostering good relations across all characteristics – between people who do share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it

What are protected characteristics?

Equality Act 2010:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

How does our federation comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty?

Our federation vision of 'Living in Unity...together we are ACE' is full aligned with the Public Sector Equality Duty. Our ACE vision provides opportunity for everyone to aspire and achieve their full potential. We work together to be an inclusive federation where all are celebrated and can feel proud and special.

Our ACE particles enable our children to be successful learners and to build positive relationships with others. They are: positive attitude; achievement; responsibility and respect; try and try again…perseverance; independent learner; creativity; live, learn and laugh; everyone working together and sharing and caring.

At Bramford CEVC Primary School our federation vision is underpinned by our Christian values and our chosen psalm: ‘How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.’
